End Family Separation: NYC {March & Rally}

July 02, 2018

On June 30th, 2018, hundreds of thousands of people across the United States came together to march, rally, and speak about the injustice and cruel acts that have been happening here in the U.S. Thousands of deported immigrants have been separated from their families and pushed out of the country. In some cases, the adults are being sent back to the country they fed while their children are stuck in the United States. But is anything being done to help reunite these families? No, not by our government of course. As a matter of fact, this is the exact outcome of what happens when you have programs such as I.C.E.* deporting thousands of immigrant families who are just seeking asylum and help from a country that claims to be welcoming to everyone. A land of opportunity and freedom. It doesn’t so much seem that way with the choices our government has been making in recent years. Does it raise the question: how can people be so cruel?

Please watch the video I created in honor of the many families struggling right now. This was my first ever march and I am so happy I decided to go. Can’t view the video? No problem! Click here!

I witnessed so many passionate people standing up for what they believe is right. It’s really a breath of fresh air when you can stand amongst others with the same views as you and who have nothing but hope for the future. We will never give in to unjust laws and cruel treatment of humans. We’ll be in touch.

*I.C.E. is the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that is responsible for the separations of families and the deportation of people who are just trying to have a better life. It operates with the Federal government of the United States under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security.
